July 2009 Vale of Glamorgan Council pulled out all the stops, quite literally a couple of weeks before racing was to due to be held and as a last minute event it was seen as a great success, everyone agreed that it must come back to Barry the following year.

The Council despite budget constraints has worked tirelessly again to ensure Barry plays a major role in the Zapcat Racing calendar for the 10th Anniversary season. The 'Barry Island Zapcat Grand Prix' will be held again in August, this time on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th and is set to be one of the showcase events for the 2010 with the largest number of race entrants so far (up to 30) and more Sky TV coverage.

Chris Davies, Race Correspondent for rib magazine (formerly rib international) has put together a very comprehensive 5 page feature article with references to many of the teams as well as some superb photos from the Bluechip Newquay GP. Chris is hoping to get to another Zapcat venue before the end of the season and when he travels to China to cover three F2 events.

"Hopefully the Salford City Zapcat GP as the viewing platform under the bridge across the middle of the dock will be a fantastic place to take photos - being so close to the boats will be fantastic!" - magazine is on sale now.

A taxi driver asked one of the teams over the weekend whether the sport (Zapcat Racing) was amateur or professional?

Our answer would be...

'If you define professionalism in terms of approach and conduct rather than remuneration then Craig Davis and Rob Martin (defending champions) are as professional as any other top sportsmen who dominate their chosen field and in doing so others have had to raise their game to remain competitive.'

So for 2011 don't waste your sponsorship budget on team order motorsports..
